Stages of Alcoholism and When to Seek Rehab for Addiction Treatment

Alcoholism is a serious disease that can affect anyone. It is important to be aware of the stages of alcoholism and when to seek rehab for addiction treatment. In this blog post, we will discuss the different stages of alcoholism and how to know when it is time to seek professional help.

The Pre-Alcoholic Stage

This is the stage before an individual has developed a dependence on alcohol. At this point, they may be more likely to engage in risky drinking behaviors such as binge drinking and using larger amounts of alcohol than was intended. For example, someone may plan to have one or two drinks but end up drinking much more.

Early Alcoholism

During this stage, an individual’s dependency on alcohol starts to become apparent. They may find that their tolerance for alcohol increases and that they need to drink larger amounts in order to feel its effects. Additionally, individuals at this stage will often feel guilt or shame after drinking and start missing important events due to hangovers or other consequences of alcohol use.

Middle Alcoholism

In this stage, the negative effects of heavy drinking are more apparent. An individual may begin to experience physical and mental health issues, such as liver disease or depression. They may also lose their job, have financial problems, or become isolated from family and friends due to alcohol use. For example, a person may start neglecting their responsibilities, such as work or school.

Late Alcoholism

At this stage, the addiction has taken control of the person’s life. They will often be drinking every day and be unable to stop even if they want to. Additionally, an individual at this stage will often suffer from severe withdrawal symptoms when they try to cut back on their drinking.

End-Stage Alcoholism

This is the most severe stage of alcoholism and individuals who reach this point are often in danger of losing their lives due to alcohol-related complications. At this stage, individuals may also suffer from a range of physical and mental health issues and need to seek professional help for addiction treatment. For example, they may need to go to rehab or a treatment center in order to get their life back on track.
